In the last few weeks, I have noticed in my own yard and in various yards all around Tampa Bay turf grass is a bit stressed. We are just coming out of a wet summer. Grass roots have gravitated to the top as there has not been a need for deep feeding with the frequent rain. Don’t despair and don’t over water. Check your system to make sure you are getting around 1/2 an inch to 3/4 of an inch of water on your watering day. Watering more often will not solve the problem. See our you tube video about how to check your sprinkler system for tips. Let the grass get a bit taller this time of year to allow a deeper root system and give your yard time to push some deep roots. If the problem does not go away, you may have other issues that require the attention of a turf care professional. Give us a call at the farm and we can refer you to someone in your area or if you need some sod call us as well.
